Video: Leaving Crystal River, FL

Video: Leaving Crystal River, FL

A video of my departure down Crystal River nearly two years ago today, accompanied by some added narration and the reading of a blog post.

As I continue to work through raw video footage and filling in the gaps in my blog, I’m also editing and releasing video footage from my trip. This particular video is an example of some of my early work, which did not include live commentary. Instead, I had a camera mounted on the bow of my boat and let it run to capture footage I thought might be interesting.

In this video, shot on January 16, 2023, I’m leaving an excellent anchorage at Crystal River and cruising down the river to the Gulf of Mexico. Because there’s no live commentary and it isn’t exactly exciting footage, I’ve decided to add a sort of narration by reading the blog post I wrote for that day.

The videos you’ll find on my YouTube channel present a wide range of styles. The early videos are just raw footage with varying amounts of interest. Later, I included live narration with multiple cameras. And still later, I have videos with a combination of unobstructed views out the front, my talking head in an inset, and a chartplotter screen in another inset. I like those the best because I think folks could learn the most from them.

If you’re new to my YouTube channel, I hope you’ll check out a few of my other videos and let me know in comments what you think. If you like any of what you see, subscribe to see more. And the best way you can help me build my channel is to share the videos you like with other friends on the Great Loop.

Okay, with all that said, here’s the video:
